Q. 1. What is man’s primary purpose?
A. Man’s primary purpose is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.
In order for there to be a primary and most important purpose, there must be purposes of lesser importance. Imagine if you gave your mom or sister a flower. You would not want her to say, “That is a beautiful stem,” or “Those are some pretty leaves on the side.” Your primary purpose in presenting to her the flower is the beautiful bloom on the top!. Among the purposes of man, there is a chief purpose:
1. To glorify God. To glorify God is not to make him better, as he is already perfect, but instead, to declare and show forth His glory in all that we do.
2. Enjoy him forever. As we declare and show forth His glory in all that we do, our enjoyment will be in him, which is the deepest and purest joy.
But how are we to glorify God and enjoy him? Has God given us a rule or authority which directs us how to do so?
MEMORY VERSE: “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31).
